FIVE WAYS TO ENGAGE YOUR AUDIENCE TODAY

I firmly believe that providing true value to your audience is one of the absolute BEST ways to gain their trust, generate engagement (follows, likes, website visits, DMs, sales, you name it), and give them a reason to spend their money with you. This is especially true for outdoorsy audiences who tend to pride themselves on what - and who - they invest in.

So instead of just a friendly reminder to provide value to your target audience, I’m sharing a few tangible ways to make. it. happen! These five ways to serve your followers (and examples!) aren't overly complicated. In fact, you’re probably sitting on tons of valuable content that you can organize and share across social platforms as soon as this afternoon.

(1) SHARE A #LIFEHACK THAT IS RELEVANT TO YOUR INDUSTRY AND OFFERINGS

Example → Your climbing gym often welcomes customers who struggle to maintain their grip when on the rock wall, but you know the best chalk brand in the biz and the secret to making sure it works. Share your go-to magic products and techniques to provide true value to your followers without promoting another service or sale. This will inspire them to try your hack and keep you on their mind the next time they need climbing gear or advice.

(2) GIVE THEM A BEHIND-THE-SCENES PEEK AT YOUR BUSINESS OPERATIONS

Example → Your taco truck serves thousands of local customers every week, and their favorite item on the menu is prepared by hand with fresh ingredients every day. Put together a 30 second clip to show your followers exactly how it's done. Share tips and tricks to perfect the recipe for those inclined to try it for themselves at home. This will help them feel like they have a backstage pass to their favorite meal.

(3) ANSWER A COMMONLY-ASKED QUESTION ABOUT YOUR PRODUCTS OR SERVICES

Example → Your marathon coaching business is taking off and your community is growing, but followers keep asking about pricing options. Create a post that explains your approach to pricing on a client-by-client basis to help your following understand how you build your packages, and give them an idea of where they can expect your pricing scale to begin.

(4) BUST SOME COMMON MYTHS OR CONCERNS ABOUT YOUR OFFERINGS

Example → Your high end glampground (glamping campground) welcomes visitors of all experience levels, but you've noticed that some of your followers and customers worry that they won’t know how to start a campfire, navigate hiking trails in the area, or keep food away from wild critters. Create a blog post that breaks down the top 10 things to know before visiting your glampground, addressing these common concerns and myths.

(5) ASK YOUR FOLLOWERS FOR THEIR INPUT ON AN UPCOMING PROJECT OR LAUNCH

Example → Your holistic yoga studio is preparing to launch a new class style and is narrowing in on playlist vibes to set the tone of the class. Give your followers an opportunity to connect with you by creating space for them to share their input on what songs and artists they want to hear in class. This will show them you care and make them feel like they are a small but important piece of your business, creating loyal followers and engaged customers.

Did you find these examples helpful? Don’t forget to share with a fellow small business friend so they can get inspired too!
